KY – Shepherdsville & Bullitt County

While planning your next vacation make sure to take a look at the convenience and diversity of Shepherdsville and Bullitt County. From weekend getaways to week long adventures, Shepherdsville and Bullitt County has you covered.

In Bullitt County alone we have the Jim Beam American Outpost, museum house and distillery. This 200 year old landmark features the fascinating art of bourbon making as well as the Beam family history. From moonshine to modern manufacturing, you will get a new appreciation for our nation’s only native spirit. Hey! You can even try a sip.

While you’re sipping, you might as well try one or both of our newly opened wineries. Wight-Meyer, MillaNova or Brooks Hill Wineries offer a large array of wonderful wines. They both have tasting rooms with all the ambiance you need to enjoy a relaxing afternoon or evening. Call the tourism office for directions and hours of operation.

Bullitt County is also the home to Bernheim Arboretum and Research Forest. While at Bernheim, check out the Legends and Lore Trail. On this trail you will hear many stories about different trees including the Serviceberry Tree. It was so named because it is the first tree to bloom in Kentucky. These blooms would let the preachers know they could get about the hills and hollows to perform services that the winter freeze had kept them from. Their new 6000 square foot Visitor Center is an A.I.A award winning sustainable green building. It is known to be one of the greenest in the central U.S. You can now walk among the tree branches on their new for 2006 Canopy Tree Walk, which is handicap accessible and senior friendly.

Hawks View Gallery offers visitors the opportunity to get up close while artisans make hand blown glass artwork. After your date with the artisans, you can take some time to shop. Last but certainly not least, you must dine. The Café is wonderful. Just off I-65 at exit 121

You can also get your motor running at Kart Kountry. Chronological age makes no difference on the nation’s longest go cart track. Add their newly remodeled putt putt course and for the winter months check out their newly expanded arcade with trampoline basketball and you have the makings for a day you won’t soon forget.

Take your pick, history, culture, sport or amusement. That is what you will find just 15 minutes north in Louisville. From the Louisville Slugger Museum and Factory to the Frasier History Museum or the Muhammad Ali Center to the Kentucky Derby Museum at the world famous Churchill Downs. And don’t forget the thrills of Six Flags  Kentucky Kingdom.

Just south within an hours drive is Historic Bardstown home to Stephen Foster the Musical, Fort Knox home of the Patton Museum and Mammoth Cave, the worlds longest known cave system.

Our affordable lodging and convenient location make Shepherdsville and Bullitt County your one stop lodging spot for all of the attractions in the Kentucky Derby Region.

Located right off I-65 with lodging at exits 117 and 121.
